B, Easter 3 2009, True Hope

Posted by friarpuk on 29th April 2009

Sermon: True Hope/ Text: 1 John 3:1-7/ Preaching Date: 26/4/09, Easter 3 (Year B)/ Location: Trinity Lutheran Church, Narrogin, Western Australia

Focus: When we say, “I hope something happens” what are we really saying? Are our hope statements more about our lack of hope or hopelessness than our trust, patience, and eager expectation of good happening? This sermon is about being unashamed and confident in the hope into which God has placed us! Grace Mercy & Peace. Friarpuk

B, Easter 2009, Passive Power

Posted by friarpuk on 16th April 2009

Sermon: Passive Power/ Text: 1 Corinthians 15:1-11/ Preaching Date: 12/4/09, Easter - Resurrection of our Lord(Year B)/ Location: St Stephen’s Lutheran Church, Katanning, Western Australia

Focus: When we are dead we have no power. To have power is to be alive and in control. Yet the power of God is demonstrated in death. Jesus had no power when he lay in the grave, but God raised him from the dead. Jesus was passive in his death and resurrection and still he is all powerful. Our power comes from God in our passive adherence to the faith he give us. Grace Mercy & Peace. Friarpuk

B, Maundy Thursday 2009, The Last Will and Testament of Jesus Christ

Posted by friarpuk on 11th April 2009

Sermon: The Last Will and Testament of Jesus Christ/ Text: 1 Corinthians 11:23-26/ Preaching Date: 9/4/09, Maundy Thursday (Year B)/ Location: Trinity Lutheran Church, Narrogin, Western Australia

Focus: As humans we have all inherited four wills that are deadly on us. However, those who believe and are baptised have inherited a fifth will which eternally voids the first four. This will is executed every time we eat and drink the body and blood of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Grace Mercy & Peace. Friarpuk
