Focus: When we sit in Church we sit in God’s presence.  When we sit we sit in God’s holy rest.  God sits us down, forgives us and feeds us.  This is the place of true rest, true peace, which surpasses all human understanding.  This is what the world needs and craves for yet looks for in all the wrong places.   Grace Mercy & Peace. Sermon: Peace in the Shed/ Text: 2 Samuel: 7:10a, 11b-13, 16; Mark 6:31/ Preaching Date: 19/7/09, Pentecost 7 Proper 11 (Year B)/ Location: Trinity Lutheran Church, Narrogin, Western Australia

Focus: We all need peace and rest.  Many of us blokes like to retire to our sheds, some don’t!  Women also have their favourite resting places of peace.  But no matter where we seek our temporary peaceful resting places, God offers us a place of eternal peace and rest.  We can rest in Christ, his word, his forgiveness, his promise to never leave us or forsake us as our Immanuel.  Ironically though, as we rest in him, he rests in us!  He temples in us!  We are his shed!  Grace Mercy & Peace. Sermon: God’s Glorious Grace/ Text: Ephesians 1:4-8, 13-14 / Preaching Date: 12/7/09, Pentecost 6 Proper 10 (Year B)/ Location: St Stephen’s Lutheran Church, Katanning, Western Australia

Focus: God’s grace is pure gift to us.  Therefore it is glorious and it is gold!  God’s glorious grace is Jesus’ death and resurrection for you!   Having received his grace, God’s glorious grace shines from us to others so they can receive his grace too.  This is how precious you are to him, this is how precious all human life is to him, we are his prized possessions and he wants all people to be his prized possessions.  Grace Mercy & Peace. Sermon: Jesus at Home: The same and different/ Text: Mark 6:1-6/ Preaching Date: 5/7/09, Pentecost 5 Proper 9 (Year B)/ Location: Trinity Lutheran Church, Narrogin, Western Australia

Focus: Jesus is the same as us but he is different.  We like being the same as others but we always seek to be different and vice versa.  Jesus was crucified because he was different but because he was the same.  We are called to be different although we are the same, we’re called to be the same as Christ although we are different to the world.
