<itunes:summary>Sermon: The Desert Oak/ Text: Psalm 1/ Preaching Date: 20/9/09, Pentecost 16 Proper 20(Year B)/ Location: Trinity Lutheran Church, Narrogin, Western Australia

Focus: Trees in the desert seem to defy the odds of being there.  We as christians also defy the odds of existing in a world that seems impossible in which to exist.  But we live like trees in the desert, because of Christ who grounds us in our existence and sustains us into eternity.   Grace Mercy &#x38; Peace. <p>Focus: When we desire something it can lead us to covet with our minds and hearts, and sometimes it leads to sin with our mouths and actions.  King David desired Bathsheba and it led him to falling deep into sin.  When our desires are fulfilled, the feelings associated with the desire disappear along with the yearning desire.  In this way one can&#8217;t eat their cake and have it too.  The desire just doesn&#8217;t stick around.  But when we desire Christ and are satisfied, we can eat this &#8220;Divine Cake&#8221; of desire and still continue to have it.  Such is the eternal nature of God given desires of faith and hope, and their fulfilment in eternal love.  Grace Mercy &amp; Peace. Friarpuk</p>
